The Counselor's Role

How can the counselor help you?

The Columbus Junior High Counselor works in collaboration with the school nurse, diagnostician, principals, teachers, and other support staff to deliver a comprehensive guidance and counseling program for all students to maximize academic achievement, college and career readiness, and interpersonal/emotional development.

In other words, a counselor's job is to make sure you have the resources you need to succeed in all of your goals, including those outside of the classroom. The counselor also help you with social and emotional learning through small groups that will meet weekly during advisory period.
